MARKET STUDY ROBOT MANUFACTURERS GERMANY 2025: TOP 50 RANKING
The new market study "Robot Manufacturers Germany 2025" by MEYER INDUSTRY RESEARCH, published in January 2025, provides an overview of the 50 leading robotics companies in Germany, their revenue and employee figures, and the types of robots they manufacture. The study is available for free download on our website.
Global players and hidden champions: The analysis of the 50 leading robot manufacturers in Germany reveals a dynamic structure: Global players from the automation and logistics sectors, such as Bosch, Jungheinrich, and Kuka, lead the ranking. For these international corporations, the rapidly growing industrial robot market has become an important playing field.
Starting at 20th place, however, numerous medium-sized robotics specialists follow, who have become the world's leading robot suppliers in their specific market segments. Last but not least, smaller to medium-sized providers from Germany with fewer than 100 employees are also among the top 50 robot manufacturers in Germany.

MATTHIAS MEYER, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF MEYER INDUSTRY RESEARCH, ON THE MARKET STUDY

"The robotics industry is highly attractive for suppliers: drives and gears, cabling, sensors and optics, and networking solutions are just a few of the components that robot manufacturers are purchasing in increasing quantities. For example, autonomous driverless transport systems, so-called Automated Guided Vehicles, require extensive sensor technology and networking components to be used safely and efficiently in modern warehouses and production environments. Collaborative robots, which work directly with humans, must be able to react to environmental conditions in real time and therefore also require the integration of extensive hardware and software."
ATTRACTIVE MARKET ENVIRONMENT FOR THE LEADING 50 GERMAN ROBOTICS COMPANIES
The market environment: With approximately 541,000 units sold annually worldwide, 2023 was the second-most successful year to date for the robotics industry. The trend toward automation continues not only in the automotive industry, the most important application area for industrial robots, but also in electronics manufacturing, mechanical engineering, plastics processing, the chemical industry, and the food industry. Cobots account for approximately 10% of sales worldwide.
The position of German manufacturers: In the global competition, German manufacturers of industrial robots hold a leading position alongside Japan, the USA, and China. Our current ranking "Top 50 Robot Manufacturers Germany" provides a compact overview of the leading manufacturers of industrial robots in Germany in 2025.
Most important robot types: Most of the companies among the top 50 robot manufacturers manufacture automated guided vehicles (AGVs), articulated-arm robots, and linear robots. Almost two-thirds of the top 50 robot manufacturers in Germany specialize in the development and production of one type of robot.
REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION: BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG AND BAVARIA DOMINATE

The heart of Germany's robotics industry beats in three federal states: The headquarters of around 80% of all top 50 robot manufacturers are located in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, and North Rhine-Westphalia. Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, Berlin, and Hamburg follow as the industry's regional centers.
Christian Scherer, analyst at MEYER INDUSTRY RESEARCH and co-author of the study, comments: "As is the case in mechanical engineering in general, the three industrially strong federal states dominate the locations of Germany's leading 50 robot manufacturers. However, it is also striking that half of the TOP 50 headquarters are located in small towns with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. This means that the regional distribution of robot manufacturers differs significantly from other industries we have previously examined."
